Frozen Watermelon Lemonade

Cheers, the holiday weekend is here! Looking for last minute ways to fire up your 4th of July party? Start here, with a frozen watermelon lemonade. Nothing is more quintessentially summer than watermelon (my favorite fruit), lemonade, and all that is good in a brain-freeze-inducing slushie form.

And if you want to kick it up a notch, just add a shot of vodka per serving to really get the party going. Whichever version you make, this is a simple and tasty way to celebrate and quench your thirst, in patriotic red!

Watermelon, cut up into 1-inch chunks and frozen
Lemonade of your choice
Drinking straws (very important)

Tip: to prevent the watermelon pieces from being frozen to each other, freeze them on a cookie sheet (spread out flat in one layer) instead of in a bowl.

1. Put pieces of frozen watermelon into a blender. Add enough lemonade to cover the top of the fruit.
2. Optional: add vodka if making the cocktail version.
3.  Blend until smooth. Serve with a straw and enjoy!
